?!**&??

My friend (and loyal Good Grief! reader) Jane sent me this link to a presidential candidate compatibility quiz. There were some strange things about the quiz, especially when you’re asked to weight your important issues. Below are the categories presented:

  • social issues
  • crime/education
  • security and international policy
  • benefit programs
  • the economy/environment

Why are some of these items lumped together, especially security/international policy? Anyway, the dang thing says that Al Sharpton is my 100% match, with Kerry, Kucinich, and Dean close behind.

This can’t be right….has anyone else out there taken the quiz?

I just took it and it says Bush for me. Which is a little surprising since I thought that I was taking a more liberal stance on some of the issues than would match for him. I did not specify party affiliation either. Lieberman was second. Interesting.

If I take it, and it says Bush, will that cast its accuracy into some doubt? Well, here goes…

OK, false alarm, it didn’t say Bush for me. He was eighth out of eight. The others were at 73% affinity or above; he was at 2%. Oh, dear, now I’m going to be pigeon-holed. Hey, look, Sharpton was way up there, but I’ve publicly made fun of him on this blog - gimme some credit here.

You gotta be kidding me…Kucinich? With a score of 100%. I may as well not bother going to the poles. Interesting questionaire, but it calls for alot of aspects to be cut and dried, with no chance for scenarios.
Have you or any of your erudite fellow bloggers investigated on the use or potential use of the data collected from those completing the match? I would be interested in your findings.
ps. On an unrelated topic, but related to the issue of Homeland Security, has any one read or heard Rita Katz’s book “Terrorist Hunter”?

    Moon Pappy,

I agree…you should not bother going to the poles, since they’re going to be shifting anyway. I’ve never heard of the Rita Katz book, though a search for “Terrorist Hunter” at Amazon shows a book by an anonymous author.
