Update - Hutton, Google, and the BBC

Across the Atlantic, the Hutton Report has been released, so it seems like a good time to follow-up on my post about the BBC’s purchase of Google keywords such as “hutton inquiry” and “hutton report.” When I first blogged, I tried Google.com and Google.co.uk and didn’t see any BBC sponsored links. Just now, I tried again. A search on “hutton report” at google.com shows two sponsored links: The Bahai Faith and a document protection company. Google.co.uk gives similar results. A “hutton inquiry” search on the uk site, however, does result in some Hutton-related sponsored links, but these links are not directed toward’s the BBC’s website.

So what does all this mean? Probably nothing. Or maybe that it’s time to get back to work.
