Google/BBC Update
Published by Becky S February 17th, 2004 in techA few weeks ago, I blogged about the BBC buying Google advertisements for Hutton inquiry searches. At that time, I didn’t actually see any BBC-sponsored ads on Hutton-related search results pages. However, searchenginejournal.com reports that the BBC is still pursuing the search engine ad strategy. For example: Michael Jackson. In addition, a search on disney comcast brings up a sponsored ad from the New York Times. Why would two such prominent news sources need to advertise their stories? I suppose it’s all a way to drive up traffic and, therefore, become more attractive to advertisers? Does the BBC even have ads on its website?
