Good Grief!

I’m almost certain he snuck in and changed the sound scheme on my computer. Something keeps making the Windows start.wav noise, and I can’t quite put my finger on the specific trigger. I deserve the payback, and as much as this pains me, I must salute him for his evil genius. The noise is subtle enough and sporadic enough to drive one slowly insane. And dammit, I can’t figure out how to make it go away.

UPDATE: It turns out that boss-across-the-hall is not responsible for my computer’s mysterious intermittent bling-bling noise. A reader suggests that the sound is in my head and perhaps it’s time for a vacation. I even got a geeky coworker to take a look. His diagnosis? “The sound is coming from your speaker.” Since he’s responsible for this error message, I guess I shouldn’t be surprised.
