Font babies

Breaking news: according to an article by Macworld’s Linotype Univers Condensed Semibold Italic Haslam, Arial is the top font to use as a child’s name:

Asked “Which font would you name a child after,” the top choices were Arial (24 per cent), Geneva (18%), and Zapf Dingbats (12%). More disturbing was the choice of Linotype Univers Condensed Semibold Italic (9%).

Other readers opted for Helvetica (8%), Bembo and Cooper Black (both 7%). Fluted Serif and Hoefler Text Ornamnets were the least popular, receiving just 2 per cent of the vote.

    What, no PMingLiU?

    Sassy J,

I think people had to choose from a pre-defined font list. Oddly enough, PMingLiU was not an option. Of the choices provided, I like Bembo for a boy (wouldn’t do for a female–sounds too much like Bimbo) and Fluted Serif for a girl.

    it must have been
because i would definitely choose Gigi for a girl, or wingdings, or Georgia
and for a boy Haettenschweiler without a doubt.

I like bookman, both as a name and a font.
