Mix of the Week
Published by Becky S June 9th, 2004 in artsThis week’s Good Grief! mix is here:
- Miracle Drug – A.C. Newman (of the New Pornographers)
- Curtain Calls – Old 97s
- That’s Just What You Are – Aimee Mann
- Will is my Friend – Devendra Barnhart
- Steel Guitar – Fred Eaglesmith
- Where Art Thou? – Skeewiff
- Antifreeze – Asylum Street Spankers
- She Loves You – The Beatles
- Loaded Gun – The DT’s
- Crazy – Willie Nelson.
By the way, a great source for new music (and film and photographs) is Neumu; the gramophone section has weekly .mp3 downloads.
PS Sometimes the mp3 player still pulls up last week’s playlist songs. Cache problems? Beyond me, really—hit “refresh” a bunch of times until the right songs come up.
UPDATE: Oh no! The mp3 player has disappeared! It is a free toy, meaning that it is free to appear and disappear at will. It’s pretty cool when it’s working, so check back later (the permanent mix of the week link is in the “featuring” section of the right-hand sidebar).
UPDATE: The mp3 player has reappeared. It behaves reasonably well if you have a state-of-the-art computer, a superfast internet connection, and a little patience.

Not that it matters, but nice call on “Curtain Calls” — TOO FAR TO CARE is an all-time classic. As for more unsolicited Old 97’s enthusiasm, the new record (DRAG IT UP) should be out July 27, with mp3s of new tracks at http://www.old97s.com/.
