To celebrate today’s release of the Old 97’s new album, Drag It Up, this week’s mix is a compilation of the band’s older material.

From Wreck Your Life:

  • Victoria
  • Bel Air
  • Doreen

From Too Far To Care:

  • Timebomb
  • Streets of Where I’m From
  • Barrier Reef
  • Four Leaf Clover

From Fight Songs:

  • Murder or a Heart Attack
  • Valentine

From Satellite Rides:

  • Up the Devil’s Pay
  • Designs on You

Some of my favorite lyrics are from Old 97’s songs. Someday, a man will tell me he’s a serial lady killer, and I will have the pleasure of informing him that I’m already dead (right before stomping a mud hole in his heart).

The mix is here. As always, the permanent link is in the “featuring” section of the right-hand sidebar.

PS At the suggestion of Tintil, I’ve made these mp3s with a lower bit rate to help with the continuing streaming problems. The tracks on this mix have a bit rate of 80, except for Barrier Reef, which has 64. I don’t really know what this means, but maybe it will help. If you still have trouble with the mp3s, blame the script kiddies who keep messing up the internet.

I have been really enjoying your mixes…is there a way that I can get the actual mp3 files? Besides the obvious “Just buy the CDs”…I am a cheap bastard.

DannyBoy, sometimes I get the mp3s from other websites. If that’s the case, I’ll try to list the URL (if I still remember it). However, most of the tunes are from my CD collection, and I’d just feel bad posting the mp3s for people to download.
