Boss-across-the-hall update
Published by Becky S July 29th, 2004 in boss-across-the-hallHe is on vacation this week, so it’s a good time to implement my ingenious plan for putting Good Grief! headlines onto the company intranet. Unfortunately, Slippery GI, our database administrator and my partner in crime, has left the company. Curses!
We have a new database administrator, but he is a cautious fellow. Eventually I’ll break him in; for now, however, my little project is on hold.

My experience is DBAs only respond to diskspace. You can talk to them about anything and they will reply “Yes, but I need 100GB more on ora1 please (They only add the please if they are H1B types, American DBAs don’t say please….Why is that?).
You can beat them about the head and they will say “Yes, but I need 100GB more on ora1 please”.
Yep, diskspace is the key to a responsive DBA, but watch out…they are addicted to it.
Yeah, that’s why Slippery GI left…we refused to give him 100GB more on ora1. The new guy hasn’t asked yet, probably because he’s still on his 3 month trial period.
