Mix of the Week: dog days
Published by Becky S August 12th, 2004 in artsIn the Northeastern United States, we’ve officially entered the dog days—that time of year when you try stay as still as possible. So here’s a mix for doing just that:
- Fugees – No Woman No Cry
- Illy B – Double Game
- Jamiroquai – Virtual Insanity
- The Temptations – It’s Growing
- Stevie Wonder – As
- Iguanas – Benny’s Cadillac
- Wilco – Was I In Your Dreams?
- The Supremes – River Deep, Mountain High
- Marvin Gaye – Mercy Mercy Me
- R.L. Burnside – Bad Luck City
The mix is here. As always, the link is in the Featuring section of the right-hand sidebar.
UPDATE 8/13/04 4:00 PM: The mix is working beautifully today, and it’s highly recommended for that last hour of work on a lazy Friday afternoon.

The mix keeps crapping out one me, but from the songs I’m familiar with it seems like a good one.
Thanks for trying! Yeah, it’s crapping out on me too. I thought the problem was our sucky internet connection at the soulless office park. It played fine from home last night. Curses!
I always liked that Virtual Insanity song.
Did he ever have any other hits? Or was he just a one-hit-wonder?
Hmmm…I don’t know. Come to think of it, I don’t even know if Jamiroquai is a band or just one guy.
“No Woman No Cry” is an incredible remake of the original. Dare I say that it is even better??? I hope that God does not strike me down for such a comment.
And by “God” I mean Bob Marley.
Shit! You forgot the Geek Milkshake Song:
My web log brings all the nerds to the yard,
and I’m like: “mine’s better than yours”.
Damn right, it’s better than yours!
I can link you, but I have to charge

Two Bernards on one thread…talk about a geek milkshake.
Stop it, Bernie! Now I might go to iTunes and buy the Milkshake song (if they have it).
