End of week wrap-up
Published by Becky S August 20th, 2004 in newsyEnd-of-week list:
- Related to Tuesday’s hotness discussion: check out Hot Olympians, a link provided by Sassy J, the token heterosexual in her office.
- Not to sound all Philly sports fan or anything, but…the Phillies. Triple play? 1-9 home stand? WTF? Seriously—WTF?
- Three weeks until vacation. Should I abandon the weblog? Solicit reader essays? Install a webcam in boss-across-the-hall’s office?
- I am pimping A Boy Less Ordinary because Fred Shelley, the book’s author, autographed my copy, writing that he likes Good Grief! He signed the inscription “a fan.” I haven’t read A Boy Less Ordinary yet (saving it for the plane), but no doubt a funny guy like Fred who has such good taste in reading material writes good books.
What about the mix of the week???
What is a father of three, mind numbing, boys supposed to do, think for himself? Bring out my James Taylor CD? Watch Extreme Dodge ball?
Help me…please.
Becky, why didn’t you tell me you’re going on vacation? Can I come?
As a Giants fan, I was *going* to post something crummy about the Phillies w/ David Bell at the hot corner. Then I started thinking about the baseball in general, and of course my mind drifted back to the 2002 World Series… at which point I became kind of bummed out and decided just to go back to bed.
Hope you’re having a good weekend.
Oops. Meant to include my info with that last “Giants/Phils” comment. Sorry.
Hey, you only get to make crummy Phillies comments if you’re from Philly. “Very metal,” aren’t you from Texas? Why the Giants as opposed to the Rangers or the Astros?
Bernard, allow me to manage expectations. By “mix of the week” I mean “mix that corresponds to whatever week I feel like posting it.” It takes *forever* to do those things, and last week it was too hot to sit in front of a laptop for extended periods of time.
Try the MP3Blogs Aggregator. It has feeds and links to lots of good mp3 weblogs.
Yes, I like the Astros, but my dad’s family all moved out to the West Coast (NoCal/Oregon) from New York after WWII, so they (eventually) took their Giants fandom with them. Which is where I inherited mine. For the record.
And being more-or-less originally from Houston, I can’t stand Dallas sports franchises, of whatever ilk. It’s in the bylaws. Though AL baseball has always had that alluring “forbidden fruit” aspect to it that’ll compel me to more readily watch, say, a Rangers/Tigers game for no reason rather than a Brewers/Cubs game. Hope you enjoy your week.
Wow, I love how the Internet unites people with common interests. Philly also has a “Dallas sucks” bylaw, though I think it mainly applies to the Cowboys.
Guest blogger! Specifically, me! I’ll post Philly-related stuff from California. I’ll string along all the Viggo stalkers. I’ll regale the grieferati with posts about my own boss!
How excited am I to get a shout out from my blog heroine! Thanks so much!
