Mix of the Week: sha la la
Published by Becky S September 29th, 2004 in arts
This week’s mix is all, like, na na na sha la sha la. Thanks to brother Dan S for his suggestions.
- J Geils Band – Centerfold. Is there a quintessential na na na song? This one’s gotta be a contender. Na na na na na na na na na na na na na na na na. So deliciously cheesy.
- Fountains of Wayne – Denise. I’m sure I’ve put this on a mix before. Fountains of Wayne totally rules.
- Mollies Revenge – Lola. WTF? No Kinks on iTunes? And not that stupid live version.
- The Nylons – Kiss Her Goodbye.
- Sha Na Na – Get a Job.
- Wilson Pickett – Land of 1,000 Dances
- Franz Ferdinand – 40 ft
- Kula Shaker – Hush
- The Beatles – Hey Jude.
The mix of the week is here and also under the “Featuring” section of the right-hand sidebar.

I agree. Fountains of Wayne rules! And I love Kula Shaker, despite having their song displayed in a Jennifer Love Hewitt movie. What happened to dear Kula?
Hoppy, you bring up an interesting point. Can we hold it against a band when their music is used for evil, e.g., Jennifer Love Hewitt movies, McDonalds commercials (thinking of The Shins here).
I think you’re doing the right thing by continuing to support Kula Shaker. What *did* happen to Kula?
