Important Annoucements
Published by Becky S October 17th, 2004 in newsy First things first. Bernie is the winner of last week’s quiz contest. And what’s the prize? Why, it’s a copy of the Quintessential Quiz book. Also, I’m going to throw in some Cheez Whiz, Wege Sourdough Hard Pretzels, and Tastykake Butterscotch Krimpets. I expect that Bernie will share these items with his students in Ireland.
Secondly—exciting news! I had a conference call with George Bush and John Kerry this weekend. Now that the debates are over, both candidates—recognizing that bloggers are a force to be reckoned with—generously agreed to answer a few questions. I’m hard at work transcribing the call, and the results should be ready for posting in a day or two.
Check out these cool action figures. It’s never too early to start shopping for the religious or cultural holiday of your choosing.
Finally, I guess I should start paying more attention to the weekend news. They’ve been saying for months that Karl Rove will trot out Osama Bin Laden as a pre-election “October surprise,” but who expected this?
Wow… a few of those action figures are creepy.
I’m honored to be declared a “winner” and if the Care Package actually arrives, my writing class [1] will reciprocate with a small box containing similar items from Ireland. I don’t know what resembles hard pretzels in Ireland, however.

Yeah, what’s up with the “albino bowler” action figure?
Bernie, thanks for the address. Of course your care package will actually arrive; give me the week to get the stuff, and I’ll send it next weekend.
In the picture of the Albino Bowler, it looks like his name on his shirt is “Sick.” And why is the librarian dressed in some ridiculously long suit jacket and can’t move her legs? I do like the “shushing action” arm. As for Osama, I thought all the Al Qaeda dudes hooked up with dancing girls in our nation of evil–a little live flesh treat before going to heaven with 1,000 virgins (or is it 10,000?)
McPhee.com has a few more bizarre action figures. My favorite is the Crazy Cat Lady.
