"The fact that it may be a placemat sold at Wal-Mart is like a snapshot of life, that can be spilled on and still maintain its image really makes it both a subversive statement from a buyer at Wal-Mart that they should support gay rights (and really don’t considering their 97% contribution to right wing causes), as well as a brilliant commentary on this snapshot of life."

Brilliant. We should all go buy fruit loops at Walmart as a political statement. That'll show 'em.

keep fruitloops gay!

Rainbow Cheerios encased in plastic? Is this a left over political piece from the election supporting gay pride? Or does this piece speak to life's journey? We start out an unmarked, unblemished piece of toasted oat (sort of like your soul), and then take on the hues of life's experiences. We pass through different phases, radiating from the core of our childhood (and you can insert or leave out Freudian or Lacanian references here)--eventually returning to our childish state in old age (the cherrios on the corners are once again neutral and returned to their primary state--all mental cognition gone, Alzheimers has set in, and we are no longer an intact whole, but broken into pieces). The fact that it may be a placemat sold at Wal-Mart is like a snapshot of life, that can be spilled on and still maintain its image really makes it both a subversive statement from a buyer at Wal-Mart that they should support gay rights (and really don’t considering their 97% contribution to right wing causes), as well as a brilliant commentary on this snapshot of life.

I am just going to have to call bullshit on all that. What that really is, is a table placemat from Wal-mart that was on sale for $1.99 down from $3.99 because it would not sell. Rednecks generally go for confederate flags and the sort, so artsy type stuff just doesn't cut it. But it might look pretty good in someones office.
