Trolley
All hail Superwoman, who jetted to California and loaned me her car. So far, Superwoman’s ghetto car and I have had many adventures:

  • Field trip to Camden, the most dangerous city in the United States.
  • Is this a lane? This is a lane, right? But why are there two lanes over there? Uh, there are only two lanes on this road. So where am I? Oh rats, this is the trolley stop*.
  • Three car alarm incidents.
  • Detour through Fishtown, where Girard Avenue is always an obstacle
course of double parking rat bastards who should be clunked over the
head with large, vintage cell phones.

*Not as bad as it sounds. Because of a small SEPTA oversight—not working out a place for the trolley to turn around—the on-again, off-again Girard Street trolley is not yet running.

Is that the Camden to Trenton Riverside Line “trolley” :)

Nope, it’s the mysterious SEPTA Route 15 trolley (which is really a bus right now).

If you are really going to classify your recently totalled car and Superwoman’s car as ghetto cars you are going to have to get some nice neon license plate and undercarriage bling. Just because you drive around the trolley tracks in Camden does not mean the car is ghetto.

Ok, I confess to playing fast and loose with the phrase ghetto car. However, I omitted several facts about Superwoman’s car:The gas gauge does not work. Superwoman’s husband: “when it gets to 300 miles, fill the tank.”Crazy-ass car alarm, complete with two remote control buttons that must be pressed in various sequences.Perpetual engine light. Superwoman’s husband: “don’t worry about it.”Superwoman and SWH, if you ever see this, I hope you realize that I am extremely grateful for the use of the car. I’m just messin’ around.

Lend me your clip-art me thinks … that image looks suspiciously like a legendary Melbourne W-class tram right down to the green and gold finish.

Huh. The clip-art (thanks, Microsoft!) is supposed to look like a PCC car made by the Brookville Equipment Corp.

Don’t worry, if I decide to come and drive on Melbourne’s trolley tracks, I will give you plenty of advance warning.
