Eagles versus Falcons: a wager!
Published by Becky S January 20th, 2005 in sports, philadelphia, food
Jen of Good Intentions fame is sending a little Georgia love concerning this Sunday’s Eagles versus Falcons football game. She proposes a friendly wager: if the Eagles win, I get an Atlanta treat; if the Falcons win, I have to ship some Philly goodness down South*.
Once again, I require your valuable input. If the Eagles lose, what should I send to Jen? Ideas so far:
- Tastykakes
- Pseudo soft pretzels from the nearest roach coach
- Yards beer
- DiBruno’s cheese spread
- Mayor Street
*For those who know me in “real life,” don’t worry. I haven’t abandoned my official football-is-a-colossal-waste-of-time-except-for-the-marching-bands stance. It’s just that I can’t resist a wager. Shut up, Clair. I know I still owe you a beer from that ill-advised New Year’s Eve bet.
UPDATE: Jen’s wager entry is here. Mmm…pecan pie.

Send Mayor Street covered in DiBruno’s cheese and packaged in TastyKakes.
No– Mayor Street should be covered in Cheez Whiz.
Tastykakes do have great gift boxes, though. I’d highly recommend them.
A six-pack of Yuengling (UNLESS you can get it in Atlanta).
then, I’d say a bag of the finest local potato chips you can find.
god bless pennsylvania.
Sned her a nice helping of scrapple….
Nutter
I would appreciate it if you sent the Mayor and his administration. Since it isn’t likely to happen, tastycakes would be great, since they are not available in the southern states. Or, have Wawa ship a hoagie to her on dry ice. Cool bet!

In reference to Tastykakes being available in the Atlanta… I heard a rumor that they’re available at Publix, but I haven’t been able to confirm this.
What about Yuengling? Does Publix have Yuengling?
By the way, you people are a bunch of evil geniuses. Cheesesteak hats? Scrapple? Wawa hoagies? Mayor Street covered in cheese? That image will keep me awake tonight. Maybe Jen should start to pray for an Eagles victory.
Sam, what’s nutter? Is that the same thing as Fluffernutter?
Yes Tastykakes are available in Atlanta at Publix, but the selection isnt that great! So I vote for tastykakes
Yuengling is not available in Atlanta. One must travel to North Carolina for it.
And what’s the fuss about Tastycakes?
My take? Sit back and relax because there is no way Atlanta will win the game.
Becky: Nutter is Michael Nutter. A very nutty man.
But that is a mean suggestion. You could send Jen a ticket to visit Philly.
Thanks for the clarification, Sam. Depending on what part of the country you’re from, “nutter” evokes images of an interesting marshmellow-based product.
Anyway, if you think we should ship Nutter to Atlanta I’ll take your word for it. To be honest, I didn’t follow the Love Park controversy that closely. Maybe it was short-sighted to kick out the skateboarders; however, some of the skaters that were quoted in various stories had a sense of entitlement that kinda bugged me.
I could send Jen my U.S. Airways miles. I wonder how much longer they’ll be good for anything.
Stress, I’m not sure what the big deal about Taskykakes is. Don’t tell anyone I said this, but I think their scarcity in some parts of the country contributes to an unwarrented hype.
Blasphemy! You need to repent by doing 3 Hail Mary’s, 2 Butterscotch Krimpets, and 1 Chocolate Jr.
