Jim and Jennie & The Pinetops haven’t been to Philadelphia in such a long time that I’d stopped checking the performance schedule on their website. But the ever-excellent Bloodshot Records announced today that Rivers Roll on By, the new Jim and Jennie CD, is now available!

Even better, the band is playing two Philly shows at World Café Live: May 31st and June 1st. I can’t wait—it’s been too long since their last visit.

Bloodshot has an mp3 from the new record.

UPDATE: The Philly show is on Sunday, May 22nd. I got the dates confused because of a Nanci Griffith banner ad. That Nanci Griffith is so sneaky!

Yeah, that Nanci Griffith, she’s all “From a Distance” this and “It’s a Hard Life Wherever You Go” that, but really it’s all about her her her.

that’s going to be quite a weekend at WCL.
I’m J&J’s original bass player, now in Paul Edelman and the Jangling Sparrows. Paul used to be in Butcher Holler Boys and the Boxcars when i was in J&J, and opened for us a bunch of times. Amy Pickard from She-Haw is also in PEJS, and if you’re a J&J fan, you know we did a lot of shows with She Haw. We’re playing the Saturday before J&J, but we’ll probably drop by on Sunday to say howdy.
Good blog. Thanks for talking about the Flat Possum Boys a few months ago too, i did some good work with them.
