Elephant

I recently heard of talk that Good Grief should feature a new mix of the week but probably won’t because I “have a life now.” WTF? I’ve always had a life. Type it to my face, mister (you know who you are). To retaliate, I’ve created the ultimate annoying mix for your listening displeasure.

Click here to listen to the mix. I won’t give away the entire playlist, but here’s a hint—the most disturbing Disney moment is not the shooting of Bambi’s mother:

I can stand the sight of worms
And look at microscopic germs
But technicolor pachyderms
Is really too much for me

UPDATE: I completely forgot to give credit where credit is due. Thanks to Type E, also known as Wade Bloggs, the proprieter of Phreakin’ Phils, for providing the Pink Elephants and Phillies Fever tunes.

UPDATE II: A late-breaking bonus annoying song (again courtesy of Type E).

Nooo! You’ve leaked Phillies Fever into the blogosphere - I hope someone’s got an antidote!

There is no known antidote for Phillies Fever.

What the hell did Blankbaby tell you?!? I don’t recall ever adding “now” to the end of that comment. I said you have a life, as opposed to of use who get together over a few beers to discuss the pros and cons of trackbacks.

And now I’ve subjected the entire internets to kidz bop.

    Wouldn’t it be “Phillies Phever”?

Also… where did you get said Kidz Bop? Did you have the disc already, or did you purchase it especially for this mix? The possibilities boggle the mind.

Oooh, I started fight! Mark, of course I kid.

As for fever versus phever, it depends on your interpretation of this phrase. Some say that Phillies fever is an illness that strikes every year as the Phils blow it. In this case, fever is the correct spelling.

Did I buy Kidz Bob? Surely you jest. I got it from an mp3 weblog.

I’ve heard some of these so-called “Kidz Bop” things and it’s scary that these kids sing a few songs with questionable lyrics. A bit wrong.

I was pretty sure you were kidding, your posts have been pretty clever lately.

D’oh! Did I say “lately,” I meant always, your posts have always been clever. Especially since you’ve gotten a life.

Now seriously, how long before the next MOTW?

I have no idea what could have caused this post. I am just a simple man in VA visiting his mother.

    Phillies Fever is so AMAZING!

R.I.P. “Veteran’s Stadium, the hippest place in town.”

    Thanks Becky.

It’s interesting to watch Dumbo and Winnie-the-Pooh back to back, or at least this clip and the Heffalumps segment from W-t-P. Those Disney dudes must have been into some most excellent stuff.

I thought that Kidz cover of “Float On” was SO rad and I actually love it! Better than my Tom Petty cover that’s for sure.

I agree with bvsc–there’s a strange appeal to Phillies Fever, especially if you were around during that era.

Hey, Jay V, I’m listening to the Free Fallin’ cover now. It’s great–much better than the Kidz!

Yeah, what’s up with those Disney animators? What’s a huffalump?

Mark, logically the next mix of the week would be next week, but we know how that works. It’s easier to do if there’s a theme (I’m open to theme suggestions).

No theme suggestions….yet. Merely a recommendation to check out the version of “Pink Elephants” by Sun Ra and the Arkestra on Stay Awake, which is this whacked-out collection of Disney covers….Tom Waits also takes the 7 Dwarfs on a tour of Hades….
