Lititz Part I: At last, shoe man!
Published by Becky S July 6th, 2005 in travels, wtf?
Special K did not have his annual Fourth of July roof deck party*, so I went home to check out Lititz’s annual Fourth of July extravaganza. Again, I have to ask—why aren’t any webloggers covering Lititz, PA? Two notable events occurred during this visit.
Because I’ve been stalking Shoe Man for the past year, I asked Moon Pappy to make an unscheduled drive-by. Success! In front of Shoe Man’s house was a large, red pickup truck, and sitting on the open tail gate was the man himself, clad in sassy, white Mary Janes, swinging his feet, and waving to passers-by.
All hail Shoe Man! You have to respect anyone who has no qualms about doing his own thing, especially in a historically conservative town like Lititz. Also, how did he find such cute Mary Janes with an acceptable heel length?
The second notable Lititz event is a story for another day, but it involves the fire department and cute baby animals, which is very exciting.
* Special K’s lame excuses for not having the party? He moved to the ‘burbs and no longer has a roof deck in Fairmount. And also something about he and Freedom Date getting married on July 2nd in France.
characters freedom date holiday lititz shoe man special k travels wtf?
Hi Becky, I have never been to Lititz but it’s great to hear about this town, I am sure its inhabitants will thank you forever for what you are doing for them
[It took me a while to figure out I actually knew Special K and Freedom Date!]
Hey - I stumbled upon your website recently when looking for Phillies sites. I’m from Lancaster and I’m dying to know where this Shoe Man is!
The only notable events in Litiz were some guy in women’s shoes and baby animals? I think you just answered why no one is covering it.
ahh, lititz. isn’t that right next to blue ball?
Sorta kinda…not to mention the town’s proximity to Intercourse!
Clair, one from Manheim has no business criticizing Lititz.
Except you don’t see me hanging out much in either place these days now do you?
ah, Clair but your roots never forget you and also “your roots always show”..just ask Becky. Some where there the rainbow always leads the way home and not necessarily to a pot of gold!
Care to tell a feature reporter more about the shoe man?? Would a feature story on him be fun or just plain mean?
