Paul giamati is next to me at borders should i stalk him?
Published by Becky S August 12th, 2005 in philadelphiaUPDATE: Oh, now I get it. From yesterday’s Daily News:
Paul Giamatti is friendly, and a metal-head. So says a guy who met the “Sideways” star Monday at 18th and Chestnut streets.
Giamatti, in town to film M. Night Shyamalan’s “Lady in the Water” up in Bristol, noticed our tipster staring at him and asked him if he wanted an autograph.
Our source declined, saying it wasn’t necessary. Giamatti then asked him, “You don’t happen to have a cigarette, do you?”
The man, who doesn’t smoke, said no. “That’s OK, neither do I,”
Giamatti replied. “I just feel like if people recognize me, I should
take something from them.”The actor then asked our source, who had his iPod headphones on,
what he was listening to. Giamatti took the earphones and the actor
correctly identified the music. “Oh, old Iron Maiden, nice. I like old Maiden.”Sounds like a stand-up guy, so remember to offer him a little tchotchke if you see him around.
I decided not to stalk Paul Giamatti, since I had to meet some people for the Neil Diamond show. Weird but true.
paul giamatti Philadelphia
I say stalk him. I would one step further, talk to him, bBut only about his commercial films, like Planet of the Apes, and the Negotiator. Play dumb about Sideways and American Splendor. I bet he’s tired of people bringing up his critically acclaimed movies.
What was he reading? What section was he browsing in?
Good question….
He walked in and went straight to science fiction/fantasy, later moving over to the literature section. Eventually he made his way upstairs, but I didn’t follow him since I was waiting for someone.
Ahh, science fiction/fantasy, a man after my own heart.
Ask him why he won’t let Pete Rose in the Hall of Fame! (and BTW, isn’t he dead?)
WTF?
I really have no idea what the hell Clair could possibly be talking about..
Actually, I was trying to be funny confusing Paul with the former baseball commish Bart Giamatti but little did I know that Bart was actually Paul’s father.
Bart Giamatti, Paul’s father, was a former president of Yale and the commissioner of baseball that banned Pete Rose from the game for gambling. In the movie Sideways, there is a picture of Paul with Bart.
Thanks for the explanation. Some of us are a bit slow….
In retrospect, Clair, it probably would’ve been insensitive to interrogate Paul Giamatti about a controversial decision made my his dead father.
You’re right, you were much better off just following him around saying nothing.
I LIVE IN BRISTOL!!!!!!!
No problem Becky, I stayed at a Holiday Inn Express last night.
Ah, ok thanks!
My knowledge of baseball history is pretty marginal I suppose.
I was just doing a search to see if he was in town and found this site. I saw Paul Giamatti at the same Borders yesterday! Had a beard, I almost didn’t think it was him. But walked by twice and now that I know he was in town, it was def him.
